Passed away on January 10, 2012 peacefully after a short illness at the Captain William Jackman Memorial Hospital, Ashmore Thompson of Labrador. He was 80 years of age. Ashmore was retired from his work with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. He was predeceased by his son, Wayne; brothers, George, Baxter, James, Freeman; sisters, Ester, Nellie. He leaves to mourn his wife, Pearl; sons, Gary; Glenn (Lyn); daughters, Belinda (Chris), Tracey (Trevor), Trudy (Gerry). Also leaving to mourn are sisters, Georgina, Emma, Doris; brothers, Reginald (Shirley), 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and a circle of other relatives and friends. Major Stan Higdon conducted funeral services at The Salvation Army Citadel, Pt. Leamington on Saturday January 14, 2012. Interment was held at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Pt. Leamington. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Hoskins Funeral Homes, Botwood. Pallbearers were Glenn Thompson, Trevor Hynes, Gerry Beresford, Christopher Janes, Wayne Beresford, Justin Janes.
