Residents escape early morning fire at home in North West River

A fire broke out at a home on Airstrip Road in North West River early this morning, Sept. 13.

Sheshatshiu RCMP received a call about the blaze just before 4 a.m., according to a news release.

The fire burned quickly and the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time police officers and the North West River Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene.

All of the home’s occupants managed to get out of the building safely before the arrival of emergency services.

The Office of the Fire Commissioner has been notified of the fire, the release notes, and a RCMP fire scene investigator is expected to attend the scene today, as well.
