Jordan Pomeroy of Placentia has been named to the Canadian team for the 2018 WBSC junior men’s softball world championship in Prince Albert, Sask., next July.
It adds to what has been a memorable softball season for the 17-year-old, who played for Newfoundland and Labrador at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg and was also part of the Galway Hitmen, who finished second at the Canadian senior men’s championship last month in Saskatoon.
Jordan Hamilton of Maddox Cove was named an alternate for the team.
The final national junior men’s roster was determined following a selection camp held in O’Leary, P.E.I. in August after completion of the Canadian U18 men’s championship.
Canada earned the bronze medal at the previous junior men’s world championship held in Midland, Michigan in 2016, with Japan winning gold and New Zealand claiming silver.
