Happy Valley-Goose Bay ladies broomball capture another provincial title
The Happy Valley-Goose Bay ladies broomball team recently earned their fourth straight provincial title. Team members are (front from left) Jodi Loder, Leann Ryan, Kelly Way, Kayla Nolan, Crystal Michelin and Adrienne Morris and (back from left) Clarence Webber (coach), Tina Combden, Kaitlyn Winters, Nicole Primmer, Katrina Anderson, Vanessa White, Tina Pilgrim, Ann Morris, Brandon Anderson (assistant coach) and Karen Pottie.
The Happy Valley-Goose Bay ladies broomball team is once again this year Senior Ladies Provincial Broomball champs, making them the winners for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament was held in Port Aux Choix recently.
The team went through the round robin undefeated, with a perfect record of 3-0. They then to semi-finals against a team from Corner Brook and came away with a score of 5-0 (mercy rule).
The ladies then faced the winner of the other semis, Westers Sabres. The final was a close game, with both teams playing excellent broomball. The HVGB team managed to score the only goal and won the championship 1-0, with Tina Pilgrim scoring for the champs.
At the banquet, the HVGB ladies claimed a number of individual awards. Kayla Nolan was chosen as the team MVP; Karen Pottie was named the top goalie; Katrina Anderson won the scoring title; Adrienne Morris was named the top defence; and Pilgram was named playoff MVP.
