Swift Current's Bobbi Jo Slusar will make her debut at the World Women's Championship after earning one of six spots on Team Canada's blueline for the 2011 IIHF championship in Switzerland on April 16-25.
While having been selected to Team Canada's roster for other international events, this will be Slusar's first time skating for Canada at the IIHF World Women's Championship.
Slusar was one of 12 blueliners competing for a spot on the 21-player roster heading to Switzerland. The last time she had on a Team Canada jersey was as a member of the gold medal winning team at the 2010 4 Nations Cup last November in St. John’s, NL.
This past hockey season Slusar played for the Strathmore Rockies of the Women’s Western Hockey League.
Shaunavon's Hayley Wickenheiser will add to her extensive international hockey resume by playing for Team Canada in her 10th IIHF World Women's Hockey Championship. She is hoping to add to an impressive IIHF medal haul which has included six gold and three silver medals.
