Man charged with impaired driving causing death in Lark Harbour to be released
It was a somber mood in Courtroom No. 2 as family and friends awaited the appearance of Walter Alfred Joyce in provincial court in Corner Brook Wednesday morning.
RCMP in Carmanville have just confirmed that the 24-year-old man from Gander, who was located early this morning by the Search and Rescue Technicians after his snowmobile broke though the ice, has died.
He was transported to the James Paton Memorial Hospital just before 2 a.m. am this morning in critical condition but later succumbed to his injures.
RCMP say the man's identity will not be released. In a press release, Cpl. John Hedges, commander of the Carmanville detachment, said, "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man during this extremely difficult time."
