Former Alberta MP, premier Jim Prentice dies in plane crash
Several media outlets are reporting Jim Prentice, 60, a former member of Parliament and former premier of Alberta, was killed late Thursday with three others in a plane crash.
RCMP in Carmanville have just confirmed that the 24-year-old man from Gander, who was located early this morning by the Search and Rescue Technicians after his snowmobile broke though the ice, has died.
He was transported to the James Paton Memorial Hospital just before 2 a.m. am this morning in critical condition but later succumbed to his injures.
RCMP say the man's identity will not be released. In a press release, Cpl. John Hedges, commander of the Carmanville detachment, said, "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man during this extremely difficult time."
