Nunatsiavut beneficiaries in the Upper Lake Melville Region were surprised on Nov. 15 to hear Roy Blake had resigned his position with the indigenous government. Blake represented Upper Lake Melville in the government and, according to the Nunatsiavut Government, resigned to deal with personal issues.
Blake is on the docket in Happy Valley-Goose Bay for Dec. 12 facing two counts of sexual assault. Attempts to reach Blake by the Labradorian have been unsuccessful.
The Speaker of the Nunatsiavut Assembly, Edward Blake Rudkowski, announced the resignation of Blake on Nov. 15, effective immediately, and said there would be no further statements from the Nunatsiavut Government. Blake represented the region since May of 2014.
