Investigation continues in fatal Doe Hills crash
Whitbourne RCMP are still investigating a four-vehicle crash that claimed the life of an 86-year-old woman the following day. The woman was transported to hospital where she died the following day.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP and a forensic traffic analyst were on the scene of a fatal pedestrian-motor vehicle collision which occurred on a section of Hamilton River Road approximately 9:30 p.m. last night. RCMY say drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor and the investigation is continuing.
The Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP — including a forensic traffic analyst — are still trying to determine the cause of a fatal pedestrian-motor vehicle collision.
According to RCMP S/Sgt. Don Rogers, the incident occurred approximately 9:30 p.m. last night.
“A female was crossing Hamilton River Road near Hamilton Drugs, when she was struck by a black GMC Sierra pickup travelling northwest,” Rogers told The Labradorian this evening.
Rogers said the 58-year-old male driver of the pick up stopped immediately and has fully co-operated with the police.
The woman later succumbed to her injuries at the Labrador Health Centre at approximately 11:45 p.m. Friday.
Rogers said the scene of the accident has been secured since the time the incident occurred and a traffic analyst was on scene all day as part of the ongoing investigation.
RCMP say alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been a factor in the accident.
