HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, NL – A couple from Happy Valley-Goose Bay are now both facing charges after a RCMP investigation into an incident in the town last month.
Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a call from a woman on Sept. 10 warning them her husband was in possession of a rifle and cherry bombs and was threatening to drive around throwing the exploding fireworks at random people.
Police responded and arrested Nelson Hillier, 54, charging him with a number of offences, including uttering threats against a person. Hillier was remanded into custody and appeared in court on Thursday.
The RCMP later determined Jody Blake, 44, Hillier’s wife, had made up the initial threat. She was charged with public mischief on Thursday.
Blake was released and will appear in court on Dec. 12.
The uttering threats charge against Hillier has been dropped. The other charges are still pending against him, however.
