A former Baie Verte clergy has released his first religious themed book entitled “Through The Gate and Running Straight.”

Steve Smith says the book looks at life as a race and is taken from the Bible and refers to the race of faith.
“It kind of looks at life as a race that sometimes leaves us tired and weary. It just kind of looks at that and the difference that faith can make,” Smith told TC Media.
“It’s a spiritual book and gives encouragement in the race of life.”
Smith was born and raised in Clarenville until he reached university age. He now resides in Norman’s Cove.
He says writing a book is something he had always dreamed of doing.
“I always enjoyed writing and worked for The Western Star for a little while,” he said. “I’m now studying for the ministry, so this book kind of combined my interests,” he says.
Smith says the feedback he has heard has been nothing but positive.
“For those who have read it, it’s been all positive comments. People have told me they have really enjoyed it. I’ve had no negative comments. It’s an easy-reading book and I wanted to make it easy to understand,” he says.
At a mere 87 pages, Smith says the book can be easily digested in one sitting. The book is on sale at Religious Books, Bible House and amazon.com.
