RCMP respond to many calls BY LORIE O'HALLORAN The Labradorian
The holiday season has been a busy time of year for the HV-GB RCMP.
From Dec 14 to 27, RCMP responded to 11 traffic collisions, which lead to one injury, and 10 property damage calls.
On Dec 19 at 8pm, RCMP responded to an assault call at the town garage.
While town garage employees were holding their Christmas party, two employees got into an altercation.
Sergeant Paul MacDougall said no charges were laid in the incident because the complainant did not want to pursue charges.
Sgt. MacDougall said he could not go into details as to the complainant or whether alcohol was a factor as there are privacy issues and no charges were laid.
Town manager Al Durno said the town has a policy of no alcohol or drugs in municipal buildings unless authorized.
Mr. Durno said twice a year employees are authorized to hold a Christmas party and year-end party in a municipal building.
When asked about the incident that happened on Dec 19, Mr. Durno said no one officially reported the incident to him, but he said it was after hours and authorized.
