Scottish woman investigating her Duntara heritage – while honeymooning
A Scottish woman will be exploring her Newfoundland roots while honeymooning in Canada this coming May.
The town of Harbour Grace recently approved a suggestion from former resident Elena Parsons to erect a memorial wall in the town, inspired by Quinn Butt.
Parsons now lives in Ontario, but felt that a wall in memory of Quinn, as well as victims of domestic violence, could be a place of reflection for people in the community.
Parsons has arranged for an artist to paint the wall, and Harbour Grace Deputy Mayor Sonia Williams explained in a recent town council meeting that people will be able to purchase leaves to add to the wall, on which they can write the name of a loved one who may have been affected by domestic violence in some way.
The wall is still in the early stages of planning, and where exactly it will go has not yet been decided.
