CORNER BROOK Local residents have another unique opportunity to put on their volunteer vest to ensure the success of a massive sports event.
The Blow Me Down Cross-Country Club will play host to over 700 athletes, coaches and support staff for the 2014 Haywood Ski Nationals March 15-22 at Blow Me Down Trails.
The local nordic ski group will need the helping hand of local residents to deliver a great event, which will see some of Canada’s Olympic and national team members strut their stuff on the new trail network built for the national showcase of Canada’s top cross-country skiers.
Local organizers expect it will take upwards of 250 volunteers to ensure all participants have a safe and memorable experience. Volunteering opportunities would include areas such as food services, timing and security, and the good news is little or no previous knowledge of cross-country skiing is required for most of the positions available.
