$28,000 raised for Discovery Healthcare

The 24th annual Discovery Healthcare golf tournament went ahead last Thursday and was a great success according to its organizers.

Held at Terra Nova Golf Resort’s Twin River golf course, 29 teams participated in this year’s tournament.

The tournament was won by the team of Brad McCarthy, Ryan Howse, Chris Howse, Adam Howse and Andy Saunders after a tie breaker on the 15th hole.

Committee chair George Martin said this was an excellent year and next year, the 25th anniversary, will be the biggest yet.

He also said this year’s event was so successful due to the support of those who donated and local business community support.

On behalf of the organizing committee, Leona Piercey, Cal Cole, Rupert Baker, Pete Martin, John Berghuis, Barry Colbourne, Emerson Barbour, Sonia Howse and Neil Norcott, Martin thanked everyone who attended.

He acknowledged the committee’s devoted efforts to provide another successful tournament.

The tournament raised $28,549 for the Discovery Healthcare fund, with George Martin raising $1,200, the top fundraiser.
