Last Saturday T-Ballers in Happy Valley-Goose-Bay gathered for the last time this season at an end of season fun day.
The 5- to 7-year-olds spent the afternoon working on their hitting, running and throwing skills and ended the day with a barbecue.
For Michael Evoy, the UMB University student the experience was rewarding teaching the kids the fundamentals of baseball.
“I wanted the change the kids in the way they look at baseball, while letting them have fun.”
Evoy, who is heading into his last year at University, studying a BA in Sports and Recreation wants to return to Happy Valley-Goose Bay and continue a sports program here in sports such as baseball, t-ball, football, lacrosse and basketball, just to name a few.
“I want to introduce sports that are new - some of the sports I have seen while going to school. I think they will do quite well here and give the kids a look at different sports that they may never be exposed too.”
He says he has been talking with town officials about creating special sports programs to young people out and exercising, while making it fun.
