The 2012 Lab Cup is celebrating its 30th year this week, offering the best competitive soccer from across the province.  With a record number of 29 teams scheduled to play, organizer’s say an additional day had added to the 5 day long event. 

Both men’s and women’s divisions include teams from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador City - Wabush, and Makkovik. Teams began the tournament on May29 with the Championships going on June 3 at the E.J. Broomfield Memorial Arena.  

Special awards have also been added this year and will include the Wayne Winters Memorial Award for Life Time Achievement and the Labrador West Cindy Stewart Youth Award for male and female players.

Last year’s Lab Cup 2011 Champions were: Men’s - Chiasson’s Dogs, Ladies- Woodward’s, Masters-Wabush Masters.
