Joanne Wall and Andrea White were returning from the Provincial ‘A’ under 12 hackey championships in St. John’s. The duo was picked up in November to play with the Labrador City Lakers.
“We worked well together,” Joanne said. “We worked hard.”
The team won every game they played against the six teams who competed in the tournament including a team from St. John’s.
Their game scores were: Lab. West v CBR 8-1, Lab. West v St. John’s 8-6, Lab. West v Trinity Placentia 4-3, Lab. West v Northeast 7-0 and Lab. West v Mount Pearl 2-1.
Both girls normally play defence but Andrea took on the challenge of playing forward in the championship game.
The team defeated Trinity Placentia in the final with a score of 4-1.
St. John’s took the tournament bronze.
