The majority of individuals I speak to in Labrador West are in favour of Muskrat Falls. As resident of Labrador West for close to 40 years, I see the abundant natural resources that have already provided thousands of jobs for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
Muskrat Falls has been suggested as the cheapest source of development of future power for our great province. There are businesses that have decided to set up elsewhere because we don't have the power available at this time in Labrador. Muskrat Falls will provide clean energy power, of which a portion will be required for the many developments now being discussed in Labrador.
For many, whether Muskrat Falls is cheaper or more expensive is not the only deciding factor. As residents of one the best provinces in Canada to live, we must do our part to reduce the emissions into the environment that are contributing to global warning. When you compare the Holyrood oil burning generating plant and Muskrat Falls, we have to build Muskrat Falls.
I feel that Muskrat Falls is in the best interest of citizens of our province. It will provide thousands of jobs for Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and meet energy needs for years to come for our own use and export.
