A Cessna aircraft crash landed in Groswater Bay, 10 kilometres east of Rigolet, on Aug. 30.

The 34-year old male pilot from Washington — who was the lone occupant of the aircraft — experienced engine difficulties, which forced him to land the aircraft in shallow water. He was able to walk to shore where he was recovered by a small vessel operated by a couple from Rigolet who were berry picking close by and witnessed the crash.

The pilot was uninjured.

The Transport Canada Safety Board is investigating the incident with the assistance of the RCMP. At this time, RCMP will be releasing no further details regarding this incident.

The pilot had departed from Happy Valley-Goose Bay at approximately 10:30 a.m. en route to Greenland.
