Tom Lawrence to take over Sept. 1

Labour Day will mark a changing of the guard at the top office at Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corp.

As previously reported, long-time CEO Len Simms is stepping down from his position after nine years, in a planned retirement.

In a statement, the provincial government has announced Tom Lawrence will step into Simms’ shoes.

Lawrence has been named as interim CEO, according to the statement — issued at about 1 p.m. this afternoon.

“Mr. Lawrence has demonstrated strong leadership during his career with the Provincial Government. I am confident his extensive knowledge and valuable experience will serve him well as he takes on this interim role,” said Premier Tom Marshall.

Marshall also thanked Simms for his work serving Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, and wished him well in his retirement.

Hey Marshall, Simms is the one who is beholden to the people of NL. Simms is the prime example of a political flunkie., Another drain on the pension plan the Unions are taking the flack for.
