Newfoundland Hydro is investigating a power trip at its Holyrood generating station early this morning that caused about 15,000 customers in the St. John’s-metro region to be without power.
A spokeswoman for Newfoundland Hydro said the outage, which began around 7:30 a.m., lasted only about 15 minutes. Areas from St. John’s west to Conception Bay South were reporting a loss of power.
It’s not known yet what caused the problem.
Newfoundland Hydro said on Twitter it has reserves in place to ensure quick restoration.
