RNC confirms a man's body has been found in Paradise

There are few details to share as of Monday morning about the discovery of a body in a yet-to-be developed portion of a Paradise subdivision.

Const. Steve Curnew of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary told reporters the body was that of a male, but he could not confirm in general terms his age or how long the body appeared to have been there for.

Police are treating it as a sudden death. Curnew said police investigate all sudden deaths in a similar fashion until an autopsy is performed to confirm the cause of death.

The St. John's Regional Fire Department contacted the RNC shortly after 8:30 a.m. Monday about the discovery of the body. It was found in a gravelly area.

Forensics, patrol officers, police dogs and the RNC's major crimes unit are in the area. Curnew said police will hold the scene until the cause of death is known.
