Environment Canada's latest track for Hurricane Arthur.
Hurricane Arthur is expected to move into Atlantic Canada on Saturday morning.
By the time it makes landfall in Nova Scotia it should be downgraded to a strong post-tropical storm.
It will track across Nova Scotia throughout the day and lie in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence late Saturday night before moving through Newfoundland on Sunday.
Environment Canada’s current track for the storm has it passing through the southwest and west coast.
While winds in Nova Scotia could gust up to 100 kilometres an hour, the gusts will be reduced to about 85 km/h by the time the storm reaches Newfoundland.
A wind warning has been issued for the Wreckhouse for early Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning.
Rainfall amounts for the island will be less than 50 to 100 milimetres that are likely for the Maritimes, however, local heavy downpours are likely over some areas.
Even before Arthur hits this area will see some rain.
The forecast for Corner Brook today is calling for a 40 per cent chance of showers late this morning and afternoon with a risk of thundershowers in the afternoon.
The high today should hit 29 C.
Showers will continue overnight and end in the morning Saturday, but there’s still a 60 per cent chance of showers for that day. Temperature will be around 24 C.
Then there’s rain and showers for the next few days with temperatures just around 20 C.
Deer Lake will see mostly sun and cloud today with a temperature of 30 C.
In addition to the tropical cyclone warning, a special weather statement is in effect for the Deer Lake-Humber Valley area for warm and humid weather.
The humidex value is expected to be in the mid to high 30s.
Out in Port aux Basques it will be cloudy with showers today and Saturday with temperatures around 15 C.
Winds could gust up to 110 km/h in the Wreckhouse on Saturday.
The temperature in Stephenville should get up around 25 C today. It will be mostly sunny with variable cloudiness. There’s a chance of thundershowers in the evening and some overnight.
Saturday will see some isolated showers with a high of 22 C.
There will be showers in Rocky Harbour today with thundershowers in the evening. Today’s high will be 26 C.
Saturday will see scattered showers and a high of 25 C.
