More than 500 Labradorians employed through project in April

According to a recent report from Nalcor, April 2014 was the most productive period for Labrador employment, in the first 16 months of the project's history

The report states that, in April, 548 Labrador residents were employed within the Big Land, as part of the project. The second highest month was in March 2014, when their were 494 residents employed.

The month of April also represents the highest number of Labradorians employed in terms of percentage. During that month, Labrador residents held 43.4 per cent of the Muskrat Falls workforce in Labrador. That is a stark contrast to the very first month, January 2013, when it was only 30.2 per cent.

The three-month period between February-April 2014 contained a large upswing in the number of Labradorians employed; going from 401 to 548 in that time.

In contract, the previous three months, from November 2013- January 2014, contained a sharp decline in Labrador employment, going from 435 to 303.

Below is the percentage of Labrador jobs held by Labrador residents for the first 16 months of the Muskrat Falls project.

• March 2014 — 42.2 per cent;

• February 2014 — 40.6 per cent;

• January 2014 — 39.4 per cent;

• December 2013 — 39.9 per cent;

• November 2013 — 40.3 per cent;

• October 2013 — 41.8 per cent;

• September 2013 — 41.2 per cent;

• August 2013 — 39.8 per cent;

• July 2013 — 38.3 per cent;

• June 2013 — 40.3 per cent;

• May 2013 — 36.4 per cent;

• April 2013 — 37.6 per cent;

• March 2013 — 34.2 per cent;

• February 2013 — 30.8 per cent; and

• January 2013 — 30.2 per cent;
