The Department of Health and Community Services has issued a tender to construct a 20-bed expansion to the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Long-Term Care Home.

The facility currently provides levels three and four nursing care to its residents. The expansion will bring up the number of beds from 50 to 70.

“The expansion of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Long-Term Care Home is very positive for this region,” said Lake Melville MHA Keith Russell in a news release. “The additional capacity at this facility will help to address a growing need that exists amongst the elders of our community who require this advanced level of nursing care.”

The 20-bed expansion is expected to be constructed by the end of 2015.
