Saturday evening, her vehicle was found at Cape Spear and the search for the woman moved into that area.

“We were out here last night since yesterday evening. We had people out here overnight and we were out first light,” said RNC Insp. Paul Woodruff.

“We’re going to continue on through the day. The weather is fairly good now and hopefully it stays this way.

Search and rescue personnel have been conducting a ground search and the coast guard had people offshore searching the waters.

There has also been a helicopter searching the area, and Sunday there were plans for a fixed-wing aircraft to join the search.

Skanes is described as being approximately 5’4” ft, 150 lbs with shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes. She wears dark-rimmed glasses. It is unknown what clothing Skanes was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
