Throughout the day, the justice minister visited four communities, providing details for nearly $2.9 million in funding from Budget 2014 for various projects.
Mr. King started in Grand Bank where he announced $729,039 for water and sewer upgrades to Marine Drive and Pleasant Street.
In Fortune, he indicated the town will receive $359,500 for the second phase of water and sewer replacement on Lake and Elford streets, as well as $282,000 for upgrades to the town’s arena.
Over $700,000 in funding was announced for St. Lawrence during an afternoon visit to the community. Mr. King said the provincial government is investing $315,000 for upgrades to increase the water pressure on Mayor Place and a portion of Route 220. A further $387,000 has been allocated for improvements to the town’s recreation centre, he revealed.
Wrapping up his travels in Garnish Wednesday evening, Mr. King announced $55,208 for paving to Water Front Road, $40,000 for an engineering design initiative on Little Brook Road and $13,000 in additional funding for upgrades to the community centre.
All projects have been approved under the 90-10 cost-share arrangement with the provincial government.
The province has allocated $200 million over three years for infrastructure projects as part of Budget 2014 investments.
