NORAD conducting training exercises in Goose Bay

The North American Aerospace Defense Command and the Canadian NORAD Region (CANR) will be conducting training exercises In Goose Bay, Yellowknife, and Iqaluit, during the first two weeks of April.

Aircrafts such as the CF-18 Hornet and CC-130T Hercules will be deployed for these exercises, and residents are advised that they might see increased flight activity.

“These operations are carefully planned to ensure NORAD’s rapid response capability,” states a Department of National Defence news release.  “NORAD routinely conducts exercise flights of this nature throughout the U.S. and Canada.”

“The surveillance and control of North American airspace remains a primary mission focus for the men and women of NORAD. NORAD continues to maintain robust air defence capabilities to ensure air sovereignty over North America.”
