Premier Tom Marshall unveiled this morning what the provincial government will be doing as part of its Open Government Initiative.

"The government of Newfoundland and Labrador is listening," Marshall said.

The four pillars of the new direction will be "Collaboration," "Dialogue," "Open Information" and "Open Data."

Marshall promised more public engagement with citizens.

He called it a "systematic process to make sure government hears from its citizens."

Eventually, after asking people how they want the government to deliver more information, they will come up with an "open government action plan" Marshall promised.

Steve Kent, minister responsible for public engagement, said that they need to hear from people about what they want.

Most of those comments, are so laughable..same people blowing wind once more, just to hear their fingers tapping on a keyboard. Everyone.. trying doing this. offer your solution. But if you think everything is going to be ok, WEARING RED.. you better rethink yourselves.

I think Steve is doing the same thing he did with Kathy. He is Tom's little lap dog. Remember I told you the first time you ran " you become a table tapping bobble head and I will change my vote" Well that time has come. I believe that this government should look at payment for Ostomy supplies for All Ostomates of our province. We need these 24 hours a day. Think about it, if we all decided to go around with no pouch system all day.!!!!!

Tom, will you release the David Day report of 20 years ago, hidden when Wells was Premier. Your buddy Wells on the Bill 29 review! Perfect man for freedom of information.

We all know who got us into this secrecy mess. So what is he doing now?...pulling the strings for the next PC leader.

The quicker we rid ourselves of these Nalcor PC drones the better. Funny how they have seen the light when the polls have them down in the dumps. They can't wait to waste our money for their corporate masters, and make pitiful too-little-too-late gestures like this hoping the populace will forget the years upon years of secrets and lies they have subjected us to. Hit the highway PC's, and beg for scraps from the Corporations and executives who hold your leashes.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Too late guys, the die has been cast. Thanks to D and K.

Doesn't matter what they do now. By allowing one individual or small group of corporate elites to rule over us, we've given them ownership of government. This province does not belong to it's people anymore.

Tom, were you hypnotized to the point you couldn't open your yap when Bill 29 and Muskrat were being rammed through? Sorry o' man, the damage to the PC's (thanks to those lackey MHA's) is already done!

Like atheists who convert to religion on their deathbed. And now that the great Muskrat Falls larceny has been implemented, the formal imposition of Martial law served it's main purpose anyway. We get what we deserve....it is our undeniable fate.

The people of this province have been speaking for the past 10 years. Obviously government members have had their hearing aids turned off. Now this very same organization have decided to listen to the people who they turned a deaf ear to for all this time. Suddenly it matters what people of the province wants? I guess the epiphany came when they fell so far in the polls! What will happen when they are re-elected I wonder, will the people matter then or will it be the same ole same ole?

I hope that the Premier is serious about this open Government initiative. At present, the Government and the bureaucracy has closed its ears to the people. I know of dozens of people who have written letters to the Government regarding serious issues and have not even received a form letter acknowledging receipt of their letter! Other letters which were not sent registered or with tracking by Canada Post have mysteriously disappeared. In some cases, people were forced to file complaints with the Citizens Representative Office in order to force Government of Newfoundland to respond to their complaints. In most cases, the Government response, when it is sent, is comprised mostly of double speak and no corrective action is ever taken.

Here's an idea. Why don't the government consider the special needs of people with metabolic disorder such as PKU. Funding the drugs for the 40 plus people who require it may mean not paying their disability and welfare checks down the road. How about the government consider that preventative measure instead of putting a great challenge in front of people who are already challenges with the disorder.

STEVE my boy ---- I want expenditures on Muskrat Falls to be put on hold pending the results of an independent review (and then perhaps a referendum) on Muskrat Falls. ..........I can afford (and did this past December) install a heat pump in my home and am saving about 25% on energy use/costs. ..... The Federal Loan Guarantee requires that when Muskrat Falls comes on stream MY energy savings (and the savings of higher income households, those who can afford it) will have to be offloaded as INCREASED COSTS on low and middle income households (those who cannot afford themselves what is needed to reduce their energy use and costs)...... Do you hear me Steve? ------DISGRACEFUL.
