Two arrested for smuggling drug packages into LCC

A 27-year-old man and a 37-year-old man from Happy Valley-Goose Bay have been arrested after allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the Labrador Correctional Centre.

According to the RCMP, the men threw two packages over the centre’s fence, containing ecstasy pills and tobacco products. The police intercepted the packages around 2 p.m. on Feb. 18.

The two men appeared in Happy Valley-Goose Bay provincial court on Feb. 20 and have been remanded until their bail hearing on Feb. 24. Both are facing charges, which include trafficking in a controlled substance.
