Slade's swearing-in brings the Liberal ranks in the House of Assembly to eight.

Slade won a byelection last month following the resignation of then-finance minister Jerome Kennedy.

Slade will likely have to wait until March to actually take his seat in the legislature.

Lt.-Gov. Frank Fagan talked about the value of community service, volunteer work and public service, and congratulated Slade.

Sam will now join the ranks of the Official Opposition until (hopefully) the Liberals form the next government. No matter what he does after that, he'll never indebt Newfoundland & Labrador to the extent the resigned Jerome Kennedy managed to do when he put the screws to us....for the nest 40 years with Muskrat Falls.
