Bonavista woman facing impaired driving charges after bicyclist struck by vehicle

A 59-year-old woman from Bonavista is facing charges related to impaired driving causing bodily harm and failing to provide a breathalyzer sample after a vehicle-bicycle collision Monday.


According to the RCMP, police responded to the collision around 9:06 p.m. Monday.

A female driver in a sport utility vehicle struck a cyclist on Church Street in Bonavista.

The 44-year-old male cyclist, also from Bonavista, remains in hospital at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The female driver was arrested at the scene and later released. She will answer to the charges against her in provincial court in Clarenville in the new year.
