Thieves put their lives at risk in attempt to steal copper in Freshwater

Thieves risking their lives attempted to steal copper from the Newfoundland Power substation near Freshwater, RCMP in Placentia report.


Some time Sunday evening, suspects entered the Newfoundland Power substation, and entered the yard. The thieves then broke into the control house and shed, and cut portable copper grounds, but left them within the substation's perimeter.

Anyone with information in relation to this crime is asked to contact the Placentia RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The RCMP also warns that this sort of activity is not only illegal, but extremely dangerous and could result in a loss of life.
