The preliminary inquiry for accused murderer Kenneth Edward Green got underway this morning at provincial court in St. John's.

The 35-year-old is accused of killing Joey Whelan on Tessier Place in March of this year.
The courtroom was full, with members of the victim's family.
The hearing is set for five days and is expected to see about a dozen witnesses take the stand.
Judge Jim Walsh is on the bench. Sheldon Steeves and Natalie Payne are the prosecutors.
Green is represented by Randy Piercey.
