RCMP Traffic Services across the province are conducting Operation Impact this weekend.
Operation Impact, a national coordinated effort between police agencies across the country, is a zero-tolerance enforcement-driven initiative designed to increase public compliance with safe driving practices.
Provincially, members of RCMP Traffic Services and RCMP Members from detachments will be conducting a number of checkpoints and enforcement initiatives throughout the province over the long Thanksgiving Day weekend when traffic volume is expected to increase.
The goal for Operation Impact is to save lives and reduce injury by making our roads safer through enforcement and education. The RCMP will target enforcement in the areas of impaired driving, seatbelt use and aggressive driving.
RCMP Traffic Services is asking everyone to consider road safety whenever they get behind the wheel:
Ensure all passengers are properly restrained in the vehicle
Refrain from drinking and driving
Pay attention to the road at all times
Stop aggressive driving behavior
