Happy-Valley-Goose bay nominations closed

Nominations for the general municipal elections closed minutes ago for Happy Valley-Goose Bay, with 11 names being put forward for council, and two nominations for mayor.

Jamie Snook and John Hickey will be in the race for the mayor’s seat come Sept. 24.

Names put forward for councillors include Bernie Bolger, Tony Chubbs, Jackie Comton-Hobbs, Shawn Crann, Cora Hamel-Pardy, Leo Hanrahan, Tanya Michelin, Stanley Oliver, Bert Pomeroy, Shannon Tobin and Henry B. Windeler.

Advance poll will take place Sept. 10 at the Town Hall.

The General Election will take place Sept. 24 from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

Polling stations will be set up at the following locations:

Polling station #1 – Royal Canadian Legion

Polling Station #2 – Masonic Lodge

Polling Station #3 – GBAC office, Spruce Lodge 104, Travis Street

    Some educated people and some not, some guiet and some loud people,some males and some females, some thinkers and some sinkers, well it should be interesting....I hope those running are running for the entire town and not just to get what they want or need....listen to their promises and see if they are realistic....remember the town itself has rules and regulations it must compy with provincially and federally, they can only bend so much...good luck to one and all....going to be interesting to see what they say when they come to my door or when I check my mail box.....
