The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, the new district for English language students in the province, is preparing for the September school year starting by launching a new website and Twitter® account.
“This is an exciting time for education in Newfoundland and Labrador and our team is looking forward to the new school year,” Darrin Pike, CEO/Director of Education — Designate, said in a news release.
“Student achievement is our focus and each new school year provides exciting opportunities and experiences which we look forward to. Preparation has been ongoing for some time and I am pleased today that we have launched our new website and Twitter® account which are important resources for our school communities and are tools to help us stay engaged with those communities.”
The website contains important information for parents/guardians such as school and district contacts and school opening times and can be viewed at www.nlesd.ca.
The Twitter® handle for the new district is @NLESDCA.
“I encourage everyone involved with our schools to review our website for the latest information on schools, especially school opening times for September, and to follow our Twitter® account for a variety of information which will keep them up-to-date on the activities occurring within the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District,” said Pike.
The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District comes into effect on Sept. 1 and includes 259 schools, approximately 67,000 students and over 9,000 employees.
