A 71-year-old woman died Tuesday evening after being injured earlier in the day in a single-vehicle accident on the Bay D'Espoir Highway, near Cat Brook.
Bay D'Espoir RCMP say officers responded to the accident about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman, from Milltown, was the driver and lone occupant of the vehicle which had left the road and ended up on its side in the ditch.
Firefighters from St Alban's and Conne River responded to the scene. The woman was removed from the vehicle with assistance from the Jaws of Life.
The extent of her injuries at the scene was unknown, however, she was conscious and alert. The woman was transported to hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor where she passed away later that evening.
The RCMP says weather conditions at the time of the accident were believed to be overcast and road conditions dry. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing and the name of the victim is not being released at this time.
