BURGEO  A 51-year-old Burgeo man was listed in critical condition at Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook on Tuesday following a single vehicle accident on Burgeo Highway on Monday night.

Constable Darren Cooper of the Burgeo RCMP said police received a call at 10:45 p.m. on Monday reporting the accident that took place shortly before at a location known as Rocky Ridge, about 30 kilometers north of Burgeo.

From the initial investigation, the vehicle, while traveling south with a single occupant, left the highway and went over a 30-foot rocky embankment and rolled over.

The man was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Corner Brook. An investigation continues by the Burgeo RCMP in conjunction with RCMP Traffic Services West to try and determine the cause of the accident.

Cooper said alcohol doesn’t appear to be a factor in the accident.
