Two men in separate incidents were charged with impaired driving of snowmobiles Sunday in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

The first incident occurred about 12:10 p.m. Sunday when the RCMP was advised that a snowmobile had collided with a vehicle travelling on 10th Street in the community.

The snowmobile was driving on the road when it hit the motor vehicle that was turning left into a driveway. The driver of the snowmobile was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the motor vehicle was not injured and there was extensive damage to both vehicles.

The 37-year-old driver of the snowmobile was under the influence of alcohol and charges of impaired driving are pending.

The second incident occurred about 6:35 p.m. Sunday.

The RCMP was advised that a snowmobile had ran into the side of a restaurant located at Trapper's Cabin on Aspen Street in the community.

The RCMP responded and a 46-year-old male from the community was arrested at the scene.

He had over times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

Impaired Driving charges are pending against the male driver and a court date has been set for June 26 at provincial court in Happy Valley/Goose Bay.
