A new surveillance program to help towns across Newfoundland and Labrador deal with the issue of illegal dumping was announced today by the provincial government.

A news release states that the new program is based on the town of Conception Bay South’s successful enforcement and surveillance program. It will provide municipalities with the tools, support and training necessary to implement effective illegal dumping surveillance and enforcement programs within their own communities.

“The potential environmental impacts of illegal dumping are significant, posing a serious threat to plants and wildlife in our local ecosystems,” said Tom Hedderson, Minister of Environment and Conversation.

The Illegal Dumping Surveillance Program will provide up to seven communities throughout the province with enforcement training and education, surveillance equipment and installatio, and access to enforcement expert Brian Cranford, municipal enforcement manager for Conception Bay South.

The goal of the Illegal Dumping Surveillance Program is to establish a team of illegal dumping experts and build increased capacity to deal with illegal dumping throughout the province.

Go on an ATV Ride on any-any-any trail and look at the garbage, roof shingles, washers & friges and who knows what else thrown out everywhere. The people in camps think the country is their dumping grounds. Then there are the town folks who think that Tim Horton Cups and McDonald Bags look good along the highways. Just trashy-dirty-filthy people and there is nothing we can do about it. Nothing! Sad!

What tomfoolery. We saw in the news sometime ago two guys were caught on camera. Their fines when it finally got to judgement day was another legal system joke. Nothing heard from CBS since on this espensive issue. They must have more money over there in CBS than they know what to do with it.

Why not just appeal to Newfoundlanders' often-touted deep, deep love for the wilderness and the pristine wilderness? Because the ones shouting that BS the loudest are the very same ones revelling in the "God-given freedom" to throw whatever they want everywhere that suits them, that's why. Newfoundland simply is what it is......secializing in hypocrites, layabouts and moochers.
