(Labrador City, NL) – February 15, 2013- The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is seeking the assistance of the public in relation to a motor vehicle collision on Route 500 between Labrador City, NL and Fermont, QUE.
On Thursday, February 14, shortly after 5:00 pm, officers from RNC Patrol Services along with Labrador City Fire Department, Ambulance services from Captain William Jackman Memorial and Ambulance services from Fermont Quebec responded to the report of a collision on Route 500 between Labrador City and Fermont. The collision involved a truck and a car. The driver and lone occupant of the truck attended hospital, was treated and released. The car had four occupants (two females and two males). The two male occupants sought medical treatment in Fermont, were treated and released.
The two females remain in hospital at this time. One of the females sustained serious injuries and was transported by air from Wabush to Quebec City for treatment.
The investigation into the collision did require the roadway to be closed for several hours to protect evidence in relation to the collision and to allow for the safe investigation into the cause of the collision. Through the course of the investigation into the collision the RNC has received assistance from the Sûreté du Québec. The RNC was also assisted in the road closure by Highway Enforcement officers from the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Service NL.
RNC are continuing their investigation into the collision and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or were in the immediate area to contact police.
