A man from Sheshatshiu was arrested yesterday, Jan. 31, on charges of assault with a weapon and three charges of breaching court orders.

The man 45 year old was arrested after RCMP received a complaint of an incident that allegedly occurred on Jan. 25.

A witness advised that a female in the community had been assaulted with a beer bottle on January 25. RCMP investigated and say they learned that during a disagreement between the 43 year old woman and her 45 year old husband, the woman was allegedly struck in the head with a full case of beer, and then struck with a broken beer bottle, resulting in cuts to her head.

The man was arrested yesterday afternoon and was held for a bail hearing today in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
