pisses me off going to be lots of work but no information telling you were to post your resume or name or emailsaddresse of the companies thats working there but any were else in Canada alberta places like that they will advertise jobs and give you phone numbers email addresses and all the jobs lists you need.So whats the problem with newfouldland and labrador is it to much trouble for them to give you email adresses or phone numbers to make it easy on a person thats looking for jobs i guess things will stay the same and never change we are stilll back in the stone age

The armchair scientest are out in full force Calvin so opinions are the science of the day. This is clean renewable energy and sometimes the landscape has to change in order to accomplish that. These naysayers ought to come to Ontario for a lesson in so called GREEN ENERGY, namely overpriced windmills that produce relatively nothing and foriegn made solar panels that are wrought with problems. AS for the rest of the world and wind energy,do your research,countries are getting away from this faster than California went bankrupt.Alot of gov,t money went to California and when the money stopped,the Greenies hit the road. Add to that the huge increase to rate payers, doubling in the next 5 years and the sheer amount of land required to have solar farms that are covered in snow all winter and you get my drift. The liberals have bankrupted Ontario with green energy,NFLD has it right,just don,t be dumb enough to re elect a liberal gov,t that whines and gets nothing done. YES to MUSKRAT FALLS. Time for people to accept the fact that this project is going ahead and stop whining about it. If people wish to view it as a mistake, which it is not, then they can view it as one of the best mistakes Newfoundland will ever make. There is zero drawback to having relatively unlimited, clean, renewable energy folks, build a bridge and get over it.

  Calvin, Clearly you don't understand the meaning of the words clean energy. Large scale hydroelectric developments such as this, are far from totally clean with zero drawback. It is ignorance like that, that seems to be guiding our province and political agenda these days. Hydroelectric generation is no doubt a "cleaner" variety of energy when compared to fossil fuel generation. But there are substantial environmental impacts associated with large scale hydroelectric generation. That is simply a fact. You and people like you need to critically read the literature and not just some propaganda printed on a pamphlet delivered by our "trustworthy government". Unfortunately the people of this province only seem to care about one thing...the bottom line. I for one would be willing to pay more per KWh to see developments like wind energy which HAVE been and ARE being developed successfully in other parts of the world. Why don't you have a look at the wind projects being developed in Europe right now.

  Frustrated with ignorance!! Well if there is ignorance there is some on your part as well. You should do a little reading yourself. Wind energy isnt stable energy and isnt reliable on its own to supply the electrical grid. If you worked in the industry you would know this!! Holyrood is one of the biggest polluters in Canada, and you want this to continue? Muskrat falls is the only option for reliable power for years to come. If you done your reading and research you would know.

Roll out of announcements, now a jobs site and today young Conservatives have been hired with taxpayer money to distribute their "Power in our Hands" pins and T-shirts today at Memorial University. All of this paid for by taxpayer dollars. Begs the question: "Are taxpayer dollars being provided to Muskrat opposition groups in the absence of a Special Debate?'

The Hebron Module is being built out of province due to insufficient facilities in the province. There is no location in NL that can handle the scope of the module, and the cost benefit analysis does not go in favor of upgrading the exising construciton sites. Availability of workers had absolutely nothing to do with that decision.

Didn't Dunderdale give up on one of the Hebron modules because they didn't think we had enough skilled workers.... where do she think she is going to get them for Muskrat Falls, I guess we will have outsiders build this mistake for us.

  Muskrat Falls is a Public Works project. It may be an excellent project. However, we must ask ourselves why are we completing this now. Why not wait 5 years until the provinces business, and workers can take full advantage of the project. This would ensure provincial benefits are optimised. Completing the project in less of a "boom time" will also help towards meeting the overall cost estimate. If the project is sanctioned why not just build the link to Labrador now. The available RECALL power will help displace oil burned in Holyrood. As would the upgrades to the island transmission system. The interconnection would also make wind energy much more efficient. The delayed decision on the Muskrat Falls plant could wait until approval is received from the PUB in Nova Scotia on the Maritime Link. There is but 1 reason to build the dam now. The only real reason to build the dam now is to provide power to Labrador mines. But I do not think this is a real driver, as the power is available within Hydro Quebec's system to feed the mining industries. These mines will happen even in the absence of Muskrat Power. The single largest risk to mining prospects in Labrador is the selling price of ore (which is down) rather than the cost of electricity (which they can get from the Upper Churchill). I do not understand why a phased development to the project is not getting more airtime in the province. If this project goes ahead, a delay to the generation portion to until we need the power, and until we can actually reap the benefits of employment, makes so much sense. Who knows the export prices in the states may actually climb out of the basement as well. It reduces the risk of the project, and maximises the opportunities. Most would call it a no brainer. If Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are paying for the project, a delay would ensure our benefits are maximized. The government needs more than a glossy brochure to convince me otherwise.
