RCMP have determined the death of a 30-year-old man from Quebec City, who was working aboard a supply vessel based out of Montreal, was a homicide.
The police investigation began Sept. 16 when Francois Hebert was found dead on board the vessel Umiavut.
RCMP say the investigation has determined the death to be a homicide that occurred while the vessel was traveling in the waters off the coast of Labrador.
The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death in conjunction Labrador district investigators and forensic identification Specialists.
The RCMP said there have been no arrests and the cause of death is not being released.
The vessel is now en route back to Montreal.
The MV Umiavut is a vessel in the fleet of the Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping Inc. (NEAS) according to its website, www.neas.ca.
The NEAS group consists of the maritime transportation service providers, Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping Inc., Nunavik Eastern Arctic Shipping Inc., and NEAS Inc.
