Labradorians will get to show their “pride” this weekend.

Last Friday members of the local Pride Committee were at the town hall to have Happy Valley-Goose Bay Mayor Leo Abbass sign the annual Pride Proclamation for the Pride in the Park event and Parade which will take place this Saturday at Kinsmen Park.

Mayor Abbass read the Pride Proclamation before committee members.

“Labrador Safe Alliance is a non-profit organization dedicated to the interests and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) persons by fostering positive attitudes both within and outside the LGBT Community and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered community have made, and continue to make, significant contributions to the stability and progression of our society,” read the mayor.

The Pride weekend begins Friday at Maxwell’s & Bentley with a meet and greet and dance, beginning at 10 p.m.

On Saturday the parade will begin at noon at Broomfield Arena and make its way to Kinsmen Park where there will be live music, a barbecue, information booths, prizes and give-aways.
