Around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon a fire was spotted on the North side of the Trans Labrador Highway. The Highway was closed for a period of time this afternoon and has since reopened. Drivers in the area are asked to use caution when driving through the area.
Department of Natural Resources (DNR) was called to the scene and responded within minutes with 2 water bombers. Crews are working in the area to control the small fire and will be walking in to dig up smoldering stumps and roots.
The area where the fire is burning runs near 5 Wing Goose Bay Military Base.
There is no concern for safety for residents of 5 Wing Goose Bay or the traveling public at this time.
