There is much work happening at the former senior’s complex- the Paddon Home- in Happy Valley-Goose Bay this construction season. But, nearly a year after its closure, the provincial government still hasn’t figured out what will be in the renovated building.

In February, the provincial government announced almost a million dollars to give the Paddon Home a new roof and sprinkler system.

That work has now begun.

The building closed down last year, with the opening of the new long-term care facility attached to the local hospital.

Before its closure in 2010, Jerome Kennedy, Minister of Health, told the Labradorian that there were a number of possibilities being looked at for the building’s future use.

Almost a year later, after an $840,000 investment, that decision has yet to be made.

The Labradorian placed an interview request with the Department of Health, but was told by a spokesperson for the department that no decision has yet been made.
