Volunteer groups in the community were invited to come along for some refreshments and a social.
Deputy Mayor Al Spencer, who acknowledged volunteers make an “unbelievable” contribution to the town, thanked those who donate their time.
“As volunteers, we all give up a lot of our time, and it’s for the betterment of the community we live in as a whole.”
Recreation Director Dominic Lundrigan, who emceed the event, said volunteers make Marystown a better place to live.
“Without you people, things just couldn’t get done. It’s impossible to do it.”
Volunteers in attendance were presented with a token of appreciation from the town.
The theme of Volunteer Appreciation Week is ‘ … for the health of it!’.
