The Happy Valley-Goose Bay Remembrance Day Services and Parade will take place on Monday, Nov.11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 51, 172 Hamilton River Road.

Moravian Women’s Auxiliary
The Moravian Women’s Auxiliary will be holding its next meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 15th at 7:00 p.m. at the Moravian Church Annex.
Roadwork at 5 Wing Goose Bay
5 Wing Goose Bay would like to advise the public that asphalt pavement work will be taking place up to Oct. 23 in the following domestic areas: Building 271, 302 and Yarmouth Road. In the Airfield areas: East Cable, West Cable, Taxiway P at B, Taxiway P (between D and F), Taxiway A (intersection with P), Hangar 18 and Building 249. In both areas, there will be traffic controls put in place for the duration of the week. Please reduce your speed and observe all traffic controls when traveling through these areas.
Literacy NL public forum
The Literacy NL public forum will take place on Thursday, October 10th from 10 am – 3:30 pm at Hotel North 2. All are welcome at the event. Anybody with a concern about literacy should be in attendance. Anyone interested in attending should register at 1-800-563-111 or literacynl.com. Grand Opening of Zachary’s Playground
The Grand Opening of Zachary’s Playground — located at Lake Melville School in North West River — will take place on Saturday, October 19th at 12:00 pm. The Lake Melville School Council invites all contributors and public of all ages. Refreshments provided. Please note that ALL children must be accompanied by an adult.
Grant applications for registered charities
The Community Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador is now accepting applications from registered charities for grants of up to $2,000 to fund innovative projects that will benefit the communities of our province. Projects in a variety of fields will be considered, including health, heritage, arts, education, social welfare, and environmental protection. The deadline for applications is October 31. RCMP Klondike Night
Over the past 30 years, the RCMP’s annual Klondike Night as raised $914,188.49 for 43 charities in Newfoundland and Labrador. 2014 will be the 31st anniversary of this historic event and the final year. They are looking for two provincial charities who will be the final benefactors of Klondike Night. Charities can find the criteria and application information on the RCMP web site at rcmp.ca/nl under the “Klondike Night” tab. Application deadline is Friday, November 1st.
OLQP Fall Fair
The OLQP Fall Fair will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2nd. From 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at OLQP on Green Street. Here will be crafts, baked goods, ticket draws, White Elephant sale and more. There will also be the “best lunch deal in town” with your choice of homemade soup, chili, fish –n- brewis, beans, with roll, /teacoffee and dessert for just $5. There will also be a door prize. Admission is $1.
Salvation Army Annual Christmas Bake Sale
The Salvation Army Annual Christmas Bake Sale will take place on Saturday, December 7th, beginning at 11:00 am. There will be a variety of baked goods for sale.
Salvation Army Kids Bible Club
